Duties of the consumer

  1. Demand Cash Memo for the items purchased.

  2. Read carefully the details inscribed on the packet, while purchasing any item

  3. Give priority to ISI/AGMARK items while making purchase

  4. File Complaint in case of deficiency in Goods or Services  before the appropriate Consumer Redressal Fora.

 Who can file a complaint

  1. A Consumer.

  2. Central Government

  3. State Government

  4. Union territories

  5. Registered Voluntary Organisation.

 Where to file a Complaint

  1. If the cost of goods or Services and the compensation asked for is up to Rs. 20 (Twenty) Lakhs, the complaint can be filed before the District Forum, Lakshadweep .

  2. If the cost of goods or Services and the compensation asked for is more than Rs. 20 (Twenty) Lakhs but less than Rs 1 (one) crore, the complaint can be filed before the State Commission, Lakshadweep .

  3. If the cost of goods or Services and the compensation asked for exceeds Rs. 1 (one) crore , the complaint can be filed before the National Commission at New Delhi .

 Information a Complaint should Contain

  1. Name and Complete Address of the complainant.

  2. Name and Complete Address of the party against whom the complaint is filed.

  3. The details Relating to the Complaint.

  4. Complaint/Deficiency/Defect in Brief.

  5. The relief sought.

  6. Documents such as bills, vouchers etc. relating to the Complaint.

  7. Signature of the Complainant.

  1. Removal of deficiency and defect of the goods or Service.

  2. Replacement of goods.

  3. Refund of the cost paid.

  4. Compensation for the loss or injury suffered.
