INSPECTION/SUPERVISION OF ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

            For supervising the academic activities three Education Officers and one AEO and 9 Assistant Headmasters have been posted by the department. North Zone E.O supervises the academic activities of Agatti, Amini, Kadmat, Kiltan Chetlat and Bitra.  South Zone E.O supervises the Academic activities of remaining islands. Education Officer Kochi is looking after the Scholarship schemes and other welfare measures of students studying at mainland. He also takes up liaison work with various educational organisations like NCERT, SCERT, universities boards of examinations etc., procurement of textbooks, sanction of educational concessions. AEO supervises the academic activities of all Primary Schools in Lakshadweep.  The Assistant Headmasters supervise class room teaching in their respective schools. Subject experts visit different islands and inspect classes in their concerned subjects.

VARIOUS AWARDS TO TEACHERS

      National Award

      The department of education recommends two teachers for the National Award every year one each from secondary and primary. On the basis of these recommendations, the MHRD selects these teachers for the National Award. The teachers who are selected for this prestigious award are given merit certificate, silver medal and cash award by the Honourable President of India on the 5th September, Teachers’ Day. The U.T. Administration also honour the awardees by giving an amount of Rs. 5000/- and journey concessions.

      The department of education recommend teachers for the National Award purely on the basis of their meritorious service and their contributions to the society. These teachers are the real assets of the society.

Best Subject Teacher Award

 The Department of Education has instituted the best subject teacher award for the teachers in SSLC and +2 classes. 7 Senior School Teachers were selected for the award and it was distributed by the Hon’ble Administrator on the 15th of August 2002, Independence Day.
