The Pay & Accounts Organisation, LAKSHADWEEP Administration, discharges the Payment and Accounting functions relating to the Union Territory of LAKSHADWEEP Administration. This includes payment of claims preferred by the Drawing and Disbursing Officers, maintenance of GPF accounts in respect of staff other than Group "D" and the authorisation of pension and other retirement benefits of the employees of the Administration. The Pay & Accounts Organisation is also responsible for compilation and consolidation of accounts of the Administration in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Govt. and to render these accounts to the Controller General of Accounts, Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi. In addition, preparation of appropriation accounts in respect of Grants placed at the disposal of the Administration and the materials needed for Finance Accounts for furnishing them to the Controller General of Accounts, Management of the department accounts cadre, training of accounts staff, internal audit, issue of technical instructions etc., are also the functions of this Organisation.
In order to undertake the functions outlined above, there are ten Field Pay Units functioning under the PAO
