The Lakshadweep Government Press
was established
in 1964 at Calicut with one
Treadle Machine
and four
Compositors. The
printing work was confined
to only
few items
like official
Gazette etc. Government Press was moved to Kavaratti on 15th August 1983 and
with that a New Era in the history of printing in Lakshadweep began.
Now, Government Press is functioning in the multi storied building at Kavaratti
with most modern printing
facilities like Offset, Desktop Publishing
and Auto
Binding etc. Mini Presses
are also
functioning at Minicoy,
Andrott, Kadmat and Agatti
